Orson Ravenell, MD

Dr. Orson Ravenell is a native of Monks Corner, SC. After graduating in the top 3% of his class from Berkley High School, he was awarded the National Competitive scholarship to Howard University in Washington, DC, where he pursued a degree in Chemistry with a minor in Music. Afterwards, Dr. Ravenell decided to pursue a career in pharmacy. He was accepted to the Medical University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy and obtained a pharmacy degree in 1988. During his time as a pharmacist, Dr.Ravenell served the citizens of Camden, Bennettsville, and Columbia for 6 years. Dr. Ravenell continued his work as a pharmacist while pursuing a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Ravenell graduated from MUSC in 2000 and was accepted into the prestigious George Washington University Obstetrics and Gynecology Internship Program. Dr. Ravenell completed his residency at the Hutzel Women’s Hospital at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. After completing residency, Dr Ravenell returned to South Carolina and served the citizens of Orangeburg for 3 years at the Family Heath Center. In 2007 Dr. Ravenell moved his practice to Columbia. Dr. Ravenell is married to Dr. Dianna Ravenell and they have 3 children, Orson II, Ian Blake, and Annsley.

Dr. Ravenell is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
