Dr. Koehler was born, raised and spent his college years in Michigan. Inspired by his mother, a psychiatric nurse, he became interested in a medical career at a young age. After completing residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Duke University, Dr. Koehler worked in private OB/GYN practice for more than 20 years, experiencing diversity of medical perspectives and techniques from different regions of the United States, and gaining a broader perspective of multi-cultural medicine and patient care.

Having performed over 3500 surgical procedures, Dr. Koehler’s clinical expertise lies in advanced laparoscopic surgery, including total and supracervical hysterectomies, adnexal masses, pelvic pain and endometriosis; hysteroscopic surgery, such as endometrial ablation and removal of polyps or fibroids; as well as urogynecological procedures such as pelvic relaxation repair and incontinence treatment; and further he is adept in office procedures. Finally, he has extensive experience working with both low- and high-risk OB/GYN patients, in tertiary care centers.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Koehler is an active participant in various sports and travel with his children. They especially enjoy water sports as a family, choosing the lake as their favorite location. Of note, Dr. Koehler is an avid genealogist and has spent many years tracing his family’s history.
